Premium US line Celebrity Cruises is dedicating one of its new, large Solstice class
ships to the UK next summer in a major drive to attract British passengers. Celebrity
Eclipse is to run cruises from Southampton starting in April 2010 and is expected
to generate 40,000 new passengers for the company.
All three 2,850-passenger Solstice class vessels will be in service next year providing
a completely modern take on cruising. Celebrity Solstice will be sailing in the
Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale; newly launched Equinox is to offer 10- and 11-night
Mediterranean fly-cruises from Rome (Civitavecchia) and Eclipse will run dedicated
UK departures to the Mediterranean, Canary Islands and northern Europe.
All three of the new class of Celebrity ships include 130 spa cabins located close
to the two storey AquaSpa area. Passengers in these balcony cabins have unlimited
access to the AquaSpa Persian Garden aromatherapy steam room, featuring heated ceramic
loungers, and the Relaxation Room, which offers sea views from comfortable loungers.
AquaClass passengers also have complimentary access to Blu, a Mediterranean-influenced
specialty restaurant which can be used exclusively for breakfast. Massages, wraps,
facials on board acupuncture and even BOTOX cosmetic treatments are available. Cabin
amenities include Swedish Isotonic, body and hypo-allergenic pillows; jugs of iced
tea; calming lavender oil in a reed diffuser; and a five-jet shower.
A half-acre Lawn Club with real grass, a glassblowing show, 10 restaurants – including
one featuring a two-storey wine tower filled with 2,000 bottles - plus entertainment,
including breathtaking aerial acts, are all part of the mix on these impressive
122,000-tonne vessels.
Celebrity Equinox has just entered service with a series of sailings from Rome this
summer. Next year, Celebrity Solstice will sail alternating seven-night Eastern
and Western Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale in Florida, in the summer; and
seven-night Eastern Caribbean itineraries from the same port in the winter. This
will be the first time in six years that the line has offered year-round seven-night
sailings in the Caribbean.
Celebrity Solstice will be one of two vessels sailing continuously in the region.
Celebrity Century will run four- and five-night sailings from Miami. There will
be seven Celebrity ships in the Caribbean on a seasonal basis in 2010-11 offering
on a total of 155 sailings with visits to 43 ports. The line also sails in Alaska,
Bermuda, Canada, California, the Galapagos Islands, Hawaii, Mexican Rivera, Panama
Canal and South America.
With a passenger-to-staff ratio of 2:1, Celebrity prides its self on the quality
of service designed to make you feel like the only guest on board. Combining traditional
European hospitality with engaging service, Celebrity is regularly rated highly
by such influential magazines such as Conde Nast Traveler.
A wide range of activities and amenities are available on every deck, designed to
relax, rejuvenate, enrich and entertain.
