We have just returned from our very first cruise ever. We went with Cunard, Queen Victoria - Treasures of the Mediterranean II and we have just booked a cruise on the Queen Victoria again for later this year. The overall experience was superb from check in at Southampton, our first holiday with no queues and no worries about luggage and allowances. From check-in the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Our stateroom was spotless and the steward was discreet yet attentive. We used the breakfast room service most mornings, which was a fabulous idea. We ate in the Britannia restaurant in the evenings and cannot praise the staff enough for the service. I am a vegetarian and I had no problem with the food. We originally were a little cautious about booking cunard as we had read reviews previously about 2 tier snobbery, but its only there if you go with an attitude! We certainly did not feel second class nor were we treated any less than anyone else. We went as a couple, but there seemed to be so much to do for all ages from tots to teenagers. Be wary of some of the excursions though, some are pricey; but I have to say if you are thinking of going to Rome from Civitt...do book an excursion through cunard to ensure you get back to ship on time. The Rome trip we booked was fabulous; walking tour through Rome including entry into the Colluseum, Forum etc meant no queues at all. We also visited the Trevvi fountain, Narvona square and so much more with time for photos and ice cream. We had a fabulous 3 course meal with wine and water included too. Also to note the shops around Trevi fountain were very reasonably priced for gifts, especially the Murano glass. A fabulous holiday experience.
